NEWS
Since I've been back at home, I've... enjoyed the weather, started wearing glasses (mainly for the cinema and watching TV), received a First class honours degree for university, started to touch up my website, worked on my band's debut 11-track CD for release next month (fingers crossed), and got myself a job as a Trainee Graphic Artist.
To elaborate a bit, I'm working on the website in terms of adding some new graphics, removing some work, reworking sections, and so on. The Hold Your Fire! CD is sounding good and we have three gigs in August when I'm back from my 10 day adventure in Florida. I'm also looking forward to starting my new job on Monday - all in all, I'm having a fantastic summer and hope you can say the same.
I have 7 days until I finish my university course. Looking back, it's gone so quickly! I've had a great time making these projects (with stress aside!). Two of my four modules are complete, so today I decided to share them on my website. The first one is called
Lifestyle Coach, and the second is called
Keyboard Basics: Vol. 1. Click on the links to read more about them.
My remaining two modules are to be handed in next week. One of them is an interactive application which will be featured on this website. The other is a report, so won't be featured here. I also plan to make some small changes to my website in the coming months with an updated CV, some new graphics, and who knows what else. Stay tuned!
So, that progress update I spoke about... my university projects are coming along well I think. I've still got a long way to go but it's all coming together. I've been experimenting with stuff I haven't done before, including the saving/loading of user data, working with 3D models, and teaching a musical instrument I can't play! I'm also working on an interactive project for a client, which is another first.
Earlier today, I finished writing my last song for the upcoming
Hold Your Fire! album, which should feature 9 tracks. I think the rough demos we have are pretty good, so hopefully the CD will turn out well later this year.
My first update of the new year is for a
new track. It's more epic than anything I've written before, so it was fun to do. It was written for - you guessed it - another upcoming Chrome Shark game.
During the last few weeks I've also made a start to my big university projects, all of which will be featured on my site when they're finished in May. Stay tuned for progress updates.
Well, I'm at the end of the first semester of my third academic year at university. It's passed me by, I worked as hard as I could, and I'll be home on Friday. Unfortunately most of the work I've done this semester is preperation for my big projects next semester, so there's not a lot I can work into my online portfolio.
I've been writing with
the band some more, and things are looking good for that. I'm getting some
custom ear plugs made tomorrow which should be interesting, to hopefully prevent my tinnitus from getting worse. Quick advice: if you're in a band, protect your ears!
Whilst on the subject of music, I uploaded a new song to my
[composer] page. It's my first shot at a Christmas song and was written for one of Mark's new games. Stuck for a name, I decided on "Xylosnow", even though it uses a vibraphone rather than a xylo I thought the latter sounded better for the song title. Check it out, and play the game soon when
Chrome Shark Media release it.
And that's the end of this update. Happy holidays!
